How to Do a Dixon 3304 Drive Adjustment

The 3304 is a zero-turn riding lawn mower manufactured by Dixon as part of its 3000 series. The Dixon 3304 features a 10.5-horsepower Briggs & Stratton, 4-cycle, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. It also includes a single 30-inch cut blade and an independent, chain-driven rear wheel drive. If the mower does not seem to engage, or if it feels as if the chain may be slipping, it is possible that the drive chains may need to be adjusted. This adjustment can be made at home.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the Dixon mower and allow it to cool off completely before making any adjustments.

    • 2

Engage the Dixon's parking brake. Lower the cutting deck to its lowest setting with the control arm.

    • 3

Remove any dirt or mulch that is clogged up in the drive chain on either rear side of the mower. Oil the chains on both sides and check the chain tension.

    • 4

Adjust the drive chain tension if it is slack. To do this, loosen the tension bolt on the midway point of the drive chain on each side, push the spring-loaded roller upwards to increase tension, then tighten the tension bolt with the socket set. Repeat this step for the chain on the other side, as well, if it is loose.
