How to Troubleshoot the Drive Belt on a Husqvarna GT2654

The drive belt on the Husqvarna GT2654 allows the engine to engage the drive mode. If you are having trouble shifting your GT2654 to drive, the belt is the first thing you should check: It is possible that the belt has slipped off a pulley or has a tear in it. Whatever the case, this belt needs to be in working condition in order for you to use the Husqvarna GT2654 again.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the drive belt. It is the large rubber belt that is located above the cutting deck and below the mower's footrests.

    • 2

Check the drive belt for any rips or tears; these can cause the mower to hiccup or stutter. If you find any rips or tears in the belt, replace it.

    • 3

Inspect the pulleys that the belt runs around. If the belt is not in the center of the pulley, it will not run, which will prevent the tractor from engaging its drive mode. Move the belt into the center of the pulley if it is misaligned.

    • 4

Ensure that the belt is around the engine pulley. The engine pulley spins the belt and is located directly underneath the engine. Ensure that the belt is around the outside of the pulley; if the belt is not in this position, it will not spin.
