How to Adjust the Wheel Height on a Craftsman Lawn Mower

Craftsman rotary and mulching lawn mowers operate like most other push mowers. You need to perform regular maintenance to keep the mower running well, and sometimes you have to make adjustments to the cutting height of the mower. Long periods between mowing will require you to adjust the wheel height on your Craftsman lawn mower, which will adjust the cutting height of the mowing deck. Although Craftsman uses several different types of height adjusters, the general process is similar on all of their models.

Instructions

    • 1

Wheel your Craftsman mower onto a level surface. The best place is either in the garage or on your driveway.

    • 2

Grab the height adjustment lever between the wheel and the lawn mower deck with your hand. Some adjustment levers pull up out of the notch on the adjustment plate, while other Craftsman models have a lever that you move toward the wheel to disengage the lever from the plate.

    • 3

Move the lever toward the front to raise the mowing height, or to the rear to lower the mowing height. Release the lever and maneuver it into a slot on the adjustment plate.

    • 4

Repeat the process for the remaining wheels. Make sure that each lever is in the same notch on its adjustment plate as the first lever so that all the wheels are level.
