How to Bleed the John Deere 5300 Hydro Tractor

The John Deere 5300 tractor has brake fluid that runs to the tires. After using the tractor extensively for a year, the 5300's manual suggests that the brake fluid is drained out. To do this, you need a friend to help. Your friend does not have to have any knowledge of how a tractor works. All he needs to do is know where the brake pedal is.

Instructions

    • 1

Tell your friend to sit in the tractor's driver seat.

    • 2

Locate the small nut behind one of the tires. Place a drain pan under the nut.

    • 3

Tell your friend to push in the brake.

    • 4

Unscrew the nut as your friend holds in the brake pedal. The brake fluid drains into the pan. Screw the nut back in once the fluid stops running out.
