Instructions

    • 1

Locate the Simplicity's muffler on the lower left of the engine block. It is held in place by two bolts. Remove each bolt with a socket wrench.

    • 2

Remove the dipstick from the mower's gas tank. Take the three bolts out of the gas tank with the socket wrench and remove the gas tank.

    • 3

Locate the carburetor about midway down along the right side of the mower's Briggs & Stratton engine.

    • 4

Take out the two screws on the rear of the carburetor inside the carburetor intake with a Phillips head screwdriver.

    • 5

Twist the air filter on the back of the carburetor and remove it. No screws or bolts hold the air filter in place.

    • 6

Remove the two remaining bolts on the carburetor intake with the socket wrench. This will free the intake from the rest of the carburetor.

    • 7

Place a pan under the bottom of the carburetor bowl. The bowl is distinctly shaped with a rounded bottom.

    • 8

Loosen the nut on the underside of the carburetor bowl with the socket wrench and drain any fuel and fluid into the pan.

    • 9

Remove the nut in the carburetor bowl with the wrench. Set the carburetor pieces to the side now once they have been removed from the engine block.

    • 10

Soak the nut in a bowl of carburetor cleaning solution. Clean out the inside of the carburetor bowl with the solution applied with a cloth.

    • 11

Refasten the carburetor bowl in place by reinserting the nut into the bowl's underside with the wrench.

    • 12

Reconnect the Simplicity carburetor intake to the rear of the carburetor with the two bolts you removed previously.

    • 13

Twist the air filter back onto the back of the carburetor.

    • 14

Replace the two screws you removed from the carburetor intake with the Phillips head screwdriver.

    • 15

Slide the gas tank back into place on the mower and reinsert its three bolts with the wrench.

    • 16

Set the dipstick back into place and reconnect the muffler to the lower left of the engine with the socket wrench.
