Move the John Deere F525 mower onto a level surface and park the machine. Turn the mower off.
Put on a pair of gloves to protect your hands.
Open the front hood over the F525's engine. Find the spark plug along the right side of the engine and disconnect the black ignition wire by pulling it out of the rear of the spark plug. This is for your safety.
Move the John Deere F525 mower's right blade so that it does not sit parallel and instead rests at a right angle in relation to the mower's axles.
Measure the distance of the two mower blades from their tips to the ground, using a ruler. Ensure that both tips are roughly the same distance from the ground, down to about 1/8 inch.
Adjust the John Deere F525 mower's deck if the distance varies more than 1/8 inch. Find the front lift nut on the lift rod at the front of the mower's bottom. Use a socket wrench to turn this nut counterclockwise to lower the deck and clockwise to raise it.
Plug the ignition wire back into the spark plug and close the engine's hood.
