How to Install a Craftsman Leaf Bagger

Keeping your yard tidy when you have several trees can be a challenge, especially during changes in the seasons. Constantly raking and collecting leaves is a chore that no one wants to undertake too frequently. A good way to avoid personally handling every leaf in your yard is by using a leaf bagger, like one produced by Craftsman. A removable bagger allows you to connect and unhook the attachment to a lawn tractor as you need it. Craftsman makes a variety of baggers to accommodate different yard and tractor sizes.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the brake pedal on the lawnmower or tractor, and place the vehicle in neutral. Turn off the key and verify that the tractor is powered down.

    • 2

Position the Crafstman leaf bagger at the back of the lawn mower. Lift the mower's deflector shield, and place the bagger's lower chute over the mower's opening. Connect the two pieces of equipment by connecting the bagger's rear latch with the mower's flange hole, snapping the mounting tab into place. Do this for the front latch, too, if your bagger has this option.

    • 3

Drop the blades on the mower to the lowest setting. Place the upper, curved chute of the leaf collector into the hole located in the back cover. Apply a small amount of pressure to the upper chute to guide the chute fully into the cover.

Verify that the latch pin is lined up properly on the chute. Slide the rubber gasket over the latch pin.
