How to Drain Oil From My Troy-Bilt Garden Tractor

Troy Bilt is a company that was started in 1937 and produced the first garden rototiller, according to the company website. Gradually, they added new products and today, the product line includes mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, snow throwers, pressure washers and garden tractors. Troy Bilt garden tractors are designed to cut larger lawns, sports fields, and commercial or industrial properties. The tractors run like any other motorized vehicle, and require maintenance like oil changes from time to time. You can change the oil in your tractor using the oil drain hose that was provided with the unit.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the hood on the left side and lift it over the top. Begin when the engine is still warm, so the oil will drain more smoothly and carry away impurities.

    • 2

Remove the oil fill cap and then remove the cap on the side of the oil drain fixture to expose the oil drain port.

    • 3

Press one end of the oil drain hose onto the open end of the drain fixture. Direct the other end of the hose to your container.

    • 4

Twist the oil drain fixture so it opens, then pull it out, and allow the oil to drain completely from the tractor. Push it back in and twist it to the closed position once all the oil is drained.

    • 5

Remove the hose from the oil drain fixture, replace the cap, and then refill the oil tank with fresh oil through the dipstick opening.
