How to Find the Year on the Rear Engine of a Snapper Mower

Snapper makes a variety of lawnmowers, including riding mowers with rear-mounted engines. Each engine is stamped with a unique number that identifies the model, type and the manufacturer's code indicating where the unit was made. While finding the year of the engine is not needed for simple parts replacement, it may be useful if you want to purchase a replacement engine for your particular Snapper mower.

Instructions

Locate a silver or gray metal plate over the muffler of the engine. The plate will have a series of numbers and letters printed on it. The first set indicates the model, the second the type and the third the motor code. You may need a flashlight to see the numbering and lettering. Write down the first set of numbers and letters.
