How to Adjust the Bedknife on a Tru-Cut Lawn Mower

Reel mower design goes back to the 19th century and the need for grassy areas to be maintained. Reel mowers have small blades on a helix that cut the grass, as well as a long, straight blade called the bedknife that’s stationary. When the helix blades pass over the bedknife the grass gets cut. Adjusting the height of the bedknife will allow you to cut your grass longer or shorter on a Tru-Cut reel mower.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off the mower.

    • 2

Lift up the blade cover when the mower is totally still.

    • 3

Locate the adjustment knob next to the bedknife. The knob has arrows on it indicating movement.

    • 4

Turn the knob clockwise to move the bedknife up so the grass is longer.

    • 5

Turn the knob counterclockwise to move the bedknife down so the grass is cut shorter.
