Fill the valleys in the lawn with ½ inch of a mixture of equal parts of soil and sand. If you fill the hole with more soil, the grass may not be able to grow through it and you’ll end up with a dead spot.
Use the spade to peel back the turf over peaks. Remove the soil causing the bump and replace the turf. Step on the loosened turf so that it has good contact with the soil.
Fertilize the lawn following your normal procedure and apply water until the top 6 inches of soil is wet.
Wait one month to add another half-inch of the soil and sand filler to the low spots. Repeat this procedure once a month until the low spots are even with the surrounding lawn.
