How to Program a Dual Star and Dual Program Sprinkler Timer

A Dual Star timer is a sub-brand of timer for lights and sprinkler systems created under the Orbit brand. Both systems work similarly, and the dual programming option simply means it is possible to set the timer to go off at different times of the day or week. The key to programming the timer is to make sure it is set to come on at the desired time of day. This requires that you program the correct time into the device and ensure all of the other settings are set to the desired placement.

Instructions

    • 1

Replace the batteries with fresh batteries for best results. Dual Star timers take 9-volt batteries or AA batteries. Hit the “reset” button on the back of the timer after installing new batteries.

    • 2

Set "Program A" first. Move the dial to the time and date section. Set the correct time, date and year on the digital face of the timer by pressing the buttons on the side.

    • 3

Turn the dial to the start time section. This procedure is the same for sprinklers or regular timers. Set the desired start times with the buttons. Turn the dial to the appropriate sections on the dial and set the duration of time you want the lights or sprinklers on and the desired days for the timer to come on.

    • 4

Push the button for "Program B." Turn the dial to the "interval" setting. Choose the desired watering interval for program B. This program will follow all of the directions of the initial settings. Push the "Start" or "Enter" button to save the data.

    • 5

Turn the dial so that the “Auto” or “Start” label on the dial faces up. Repeat these instructions every time you want to change the starting times, days or duration that you want the timer to be activated.
