Nelson Pop Up Sprinkler Adjustment

Nelson pop up sprinklers rise out of the ground and water an area when pressure is added to the line by turning the water on. The design of Nelson pop up sprinklers allows for simple adjustment. There are two adjustments: radius and range. These sprinklers are capable of spraying water in a 360 degree radius. The range is dependent upon the nozzle chosen and the pressure in the line. The design makes these sprinklers ideal for watering corners and around curves. Adjusting individual sprinklers takes less than one minute apiece.

Instructions

Pull the pop up slide out of the sprinkler housing by hand. Slide the slip clamp around the recess at the bottom of the slide. Twist the cap counterclockwise off the top of the sprinkler with a flat-head screwdriver.

    • 2

Un-thread the nozzle set screw and remove the nozzle by pulling it out of the casing. Replace the nozzle with one designed for the range required to cover the area around the sprinkler. Study the Nelson owner's manual to determine which nozzle is appropriate for your sprinkler.

Squeeze the wires of the adjust collar together to rotate the collar around the neck of the delivery tube. Rotate the arm of the memory ring back an forth between the wires on the adjust collar to check the radial spray of the nozzle. Spread the wires of the collar farther apart to increase the spray radius.
