Help With the Toro Tc3100

The Toro TC3100 is a gas lawn trimmer with a 2-cycle engine and a recoil starter. Manufactured in 1979, the trimmer has a 16-inch swath path. Because the trimmer is an older model, some owners may experience problems when troubleshooting, cleaning or repairing the Toro trimmer. Turn the trimmer off and let it cool before performing such procedures on the Toro trimmer.

Instructions

    • 1

Wipe down the trimmer on all sides with a clean, damp cloth.

    • 2

Scrape the cutter head and spool area clean using a flat blade such as a paint scraper or the flat head of a screwdriver.

    • 3

Tighten the fasteners on the Toro trimmer with a screwdriver.

    • 4

Clean the front of the air intake vents using a clean cloth or the flat blade utensil to remove debris.

    • 5

Rewind the spool if the line is short or tangled by removing the cap and the spool. Use a cloth to clean out the cutting head and cap and then remove any line left on the spool. Connect one end of the new line fully into the spool slot with no more than one-eighth inch to stick out of the spool. Wind the spool in the direction of the arrow on the spool to create level rows inside the spool flanges. Do not wind more than 30 feet of line onto the spool. Hold onto approximately two inches of line and place the cap on the spool. Thread the line into the eyelet with the cap tabs aligned with the slots on the cutter head and then replace the cap. Turn the cap to lock it into place.
