How to Replace a Deere TRS21 Auger

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the engine on the John Deere TRS21 snow blower is off. Position the snow blower on a level surface.

    • 2

Find the shear bolts along the auger. The two shear bolts on the TRS21 are midway along the auger's shaft, just between the auger's side mounting brackets and the drive shaft. Use a socket wrench to twist the shear bolts counterclockwise to loosen and remove them.

    • 3

Check the inside of the left auger housing for the left mounting bracket. Use your socket wrench to remove the bolts and washers holding the bracket in place, then slip off the mounting bracket. Remove the right auger support bracket in the same manner.

    • 4

Disconnect the John Deere's auger drive shaft from the auger blade via the Allen screw. The Allen screw holds the drive shaft in place against the blade and is set into a hole on the shaft, so look closely.

    • 5

Remove the auger blade by pulling it out of the front of the machine now that it is loose.

    • 6

Insert your new, replacement auger blade into the TRS21. Follow your disassembly procedure in reverse to install the new blade.
