The structure of this garden tool is somewhat simple; it has a bar that connects to the hitch on a tractor, a set of wheels to allow it to roll and a bar covered in aerating spikes. On more expensive versions, you can set the depth of the aerator spikes to your exact requirements.

• If you wish to aerate your lawn, you must decide whether to purchase or rent an aerator. Because of the price to purchase a high-quality aerator, renting the machine might be a better option, since you typically only use it a couple of times a year. Opt for the power aerator if your lawn is small and you don't have a tractor to pull the aerator. Tow aerators are ideal if you have a large amount of lawn to aerate.
