How to Install Alignment on a Rain Bird 1800

The Rain Bird 1800 sprinkler is a basic spray head, which emerges from the ground to water the lawn after a connected irrigation timer activates it or the connected valve is opened. The installed 1800 spray heads can be adjusted to fit your lawn perfectly via basic controls on the stem of the sprinkler or by changing out the nozzles. A couple of basic tools are all that you need to align the Rain Bird sprinklers.

Instructions

    • 1

Grasp the exposed spray stem with your hand, while the 1800 is activated and emitting a stream. Twist the stem firmly, until the 1800 stream is aligned with and covers the desired watering area.

    • 2

Insert a small flat-head screwdriver into the top of the 1800 spray head to adjust the spray distance. Twist the screw clockwise to reduce the spray projection by 25 percent. Twist the screw counterclockwise to reinstate the spray projection to full capacity.

    • 3

Grasp the threaded collar just below the 1800 sprinkler nozzle with your thumb and index finger. Twist the threaded collar clockwise until the desired watering pattern is achieved. Twist the threaded collar back to the left or counterclockwise to revert to the original pattern.

Grasp the very top of the nozzle with a pair of needle-nose pliers and twist the nozzle to the left or counterclockwise to unscrew the nozzle, if the nozzle isn't fitted to the watering area or you desire a different spray pattern. Remove the nozzle and lift the old filter screen from the base underneath the nozzle. Insert a new filter screen or clean the old one with water and air, and place the new nozzle on top of the stem. Grasp the edges of the new nozzle with a pair of needle-nose pliers and twist it clockwise to tighten it into place.
