How to Start a Poulan Pro600 Series

Starting a Poulan Pro 600 gas lawnmower involves setting the choke correctly, ensuring enough gasoline is in the tank and pulling the starter cord. The lawnmower also has an "operator presence" handle that the user must hold in place during starting and mowing to ensure the engine keeps running. The handle is a safety feature that prevents the motor running while the user is away from the mower.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the choke lever into the "Start" position, if possible. Alternatively, use the position marked "Fast." The choke lever is on the upper handle.

    • 2

Push the primer bulb on top of the motor a couple of times if the engine is cold. Skip this step if the engine is still warm from previous use.

    • 3

Grip the operator presence bar against the upper handle. The engine won't start unless you complete this step.

    • 4

Firmly pull the starter cord away from the motor. Don't let the cord snap back on itself when you finish the pull. Repeat this five times or until the engine starts. Wait 10 seconds between each set of pulls.

    • 5

Move the choke to the "Fast" position after the engine has been running for a few seconds, if necessary.
