Information on Revive for My Lawn

Living in an area with poor soil makes it difficult to grow a lush green lawn. Revive lawn products are designed to increase the amount of water your soil absorbs, which benefits your lawn's root system by providing added moisture and decreasing precipitation run-off. The manufacturer of Revive also recommends using this product line for your vegetable and flower gardens.
  1. Function

    • The Revive product line works in two ways. Applying these products to your lawn helps loosen minerals already present in your soil, such as zinc. Revive is also designed to decrease the surface tension of water, which allows it to absorb more quickly into the soil. Revive granules act as an organic fertilizer source because they contain dehydrated poultry excrement.

    Types

    • The manufacturer of Revive makes granule and liquid product formulas. Retailers sell Revive granules in 5 lb. and 25 lb. bags. A 5 lb. bag contains enough granules to cover 1,000 square feet of lawn, while the 25 lb. granule bag covers up to 5,000 square feet of lawn. Liquid formulas come in a one-gallon bottle or in a half-gallon spray bottles. The one-gallon bottle also treats the soil for up to 5,000 square feet of landscaping, and the half-gallon Revive spray bottle treats up to 2,500 square feet of landscaping.

    Usage

    • The manufacturer of Revive recommends that you apply it at least every six weeks during the spring, fall and summer months. Use a broadcast spreader to distribute an even amount of Revive granules on the surface of your lawn. Use a sprayer that connects to your hose, a pressure sprayer or a watering can to distribute the liquid Revive solution. If using a pressure sprayer, dilute one gallon of solution with 20 gallons of water. Use one gallon of water to dilute eight oz. of liquid Revive. After applying any Revive product, use your irrigation system or a hose to water the granules or liquid solution into the soil.

    Considerations

    • The manufacturer of Revive recommends using Revive products every time you apply your lawn fertilizer. These products do not work when applied to frozen ground. The manufacturer claims this product does not pose a threat to children or animals. If using Revive in your garden, do not apply it directly onto your flowers. However, Revive products contain iron, so consider storing Revive in a place where children and pets can't get to it.
