How to Clean Gravel Out of Grass

Whether you have a pathway made of gravel or you have filled a child's play area with it, the tiny pieces of rock can end up in your lawn. When errant pieces of gravel invade the blades of grass, you don't have to resort to crawling around and picking up each piece. Instead, you can employ one of two methods, depending on the amount of gravel you have to remove.

Things You'll Need

  • Indoor/outdoor vacuum
  • Extension cord
  • Garden rake

Instructions

  1. Large Quantities

    • 1

Bring a wheelbarrow to the clean-up site.

    • 2

Rake the gravel into a pile with a garden rake. While you won't be able to rake every single piece of gravel with this method, it will gather up the bulk.

    • 3

Pick up the gravel with a shovel and dump it into the wheelbarrow. Transport the gravel back to the proper place and dump it.

    Small Quantities

    • 4

Plug an extension cord into an outlet that's as close to the clean-up area as possible. Plug the indoor/outdoor vacuum cord into the extension cord.

    • 5

Move the vacuum to the clean-up site and turn on the switch.

    • 6

Vacuum up the pieces of gravel using the hose attachment. Take the vacuum to the appropriate dump site. Open the holding tank and dump out the gravel.
