How to Troubleshoot Scag

Scag is a company that has specialized in garden maintenance appliances since 1983, and has cultivated a respected reputation in the mower business. With more than 50 different models, they are a prolific manufacturer of mowers. Regardless of whether you choose a smaller product or a larger one, such a ride-on mower, it helps to have some idea of how to troubleshoot any issues which may occur.

Instructions

    • 1

Judge the conditions properly before you assume there is necessarily anything wrong with your mower. Rain and the subsequent wet grass can make it incredibly difficult to cut the grass, so wait for it to dry before you cut the grass.

    • 2

Drive more slowly if your are leaving behind patches of untouched grass, having supposedly mowed it. If you slow your speed and increase the RPM of the mower, that should ensure you thoroughly cut the grass.

    • 3

Overlap the rows as you mow your lawn if you are still having trouble cutting the grass thoroughly. This will effectively ensure most patches are mowed twice, meaning a more complete job.

    • 4

Check the tire pressure on your mower. If your tire pressure is too low, the blades will not have the room to circulate properly and will not do the job correctly. Such action may even damage the blade. Add air to your tires if necessary.
