How to Add Soluble Potash to the Lawn

A healthy, lush lawn needs nutrients to maintain its vigor. Potash is a valuable source of potassium that helps the other nutrients your lawn needs get where they need to go. Potash also helps plants stay strong through cold and heat snaps and helps them resist pests and disease. Potash is available in the fertilizer section of your garden center, or you can use hardwood wood ashes dissolved in water as your source of potash.

Instructions

    • 1

Apply potash at any time of year you feel your lawn needs fertilizing. Potash applied in the fall helps winterize the lawn against the upcoming cold.

Mix 2 tbsp. of water-soluble sulfate of potash per gallon of water.

    • 3

Place the mixture in your garden sprayer. Alternatively, place a pound per acre of soluble potash in a garden hose sprayer.

Spray the water and potash mixture liberally over your yard.
