How to Determine Property Lines in Sterling, Virginia

Knowing your property lines can be beneficial to homeowners. Having well-marked property lines can help you avoid any neighborhood disputes. If you have clearly marked your Virginia property lines and someone cuts down a tree without your permission, you will be able to receive three times the value of the trees cut. Property descriptions can be found on some deeds and you can determine your property lines yourself or you can hire a surveyor to mark your property lines.

Review your deed or the GIS map to determine property lines. Some deeds provide written descriptions of property lines that can help you find your property boundaries. The deeds sometimes rely on outdated landmarks so you will need to be careful if you are marking your lines.
