Tifgreen 328 is a finely textured hybrid cultivar of hearty Bermudagrass --- known botanically as Cynodon dactylon x Cynodon transvaalensis "Tifgreen" --- developed by the University of Georgia. As a fast-growing and low-profile turf that resists seeding and weed invasion, it became a favorite for putting greens and is also much appreciated for use on bowling lawns. It spreads via underground rhizomes and without surface stolons, which allows it to be sheared flat without scalping and to still remain green. Very flat turf surfaces are commonly achieved and maintained by a combination of low mowing heights and occasional pressing with weighted turf rollers.

1
Set your mower or finishing blade height as desired between 3/16 inch to as low as 1/8 inch, the flattest you can safely mow the lawn without scalping.
-
2
Mow the lawn at the desired height within the healthy green range as frequently as necessary to maintain this low blade height, in your climate and growing conditions.

Roll over the lawn immediately after mowing with a weighted lawn roller roughly 30 inches wide and 875 pounds in weight. Roll from one corner of the turf in barely overlapping passes until you finished a single pass over the grass surface. Roll the grass surface once after every few mowing sessions to keep the turf very flat.
