Sand down one end of a PVC pipe that will link the irrigation shut-off valve to the water valve housing area, which is known as the valve manifold, until all rough edges are gone.
Wipe down the end with PVC pipe primer and allow it to dry. Wipe the inside of the irrigation shut-off valve opening and the primed end of the PVC pipe with PVC pipe glue. Slide the pipe into the fitting of the irrigation shut-off valve.
String the wire from the irrigation timer alongside the PVC pipe in the trench and tape the wire to the side of the pipe for security.
Cut one 3-inch section of PVC pipe using a PVC pipe cutter. Lay out the section, two fittings and two valves according to the valve manifold construction plan.
Wrap the threads of the two fittings in Teflon tape and screw them into the water valves. Tighten the fittings into place with a wrench, not to exceed more than a turn and a half. Confirm the fittings are inserted into the water entry inlet of the water valves, which is sometimes marked "Flow."
Sand, prime and glue the two PVC fittings, pipe section and remaining end of the shut-off valve pipe. Slide the PVC pipe and section into each of the fittings, give each a quarter turn to seal it well and adjust the fittings so the valves sit flush to the ground.
Pull out the two wires from each water valve and strip the ends about half an inch with a wire stripper. Pick the white wire and two other color-coded wires from the controller wire, strip the ends and bend the rest back. Select any one of the two wires from each valve and twist the selected wires together along with the white, common wire. Twist the remaining wire from each valve with one of the individual color-coded wires.
Insert each wire union into a wire connection easy cap and twist the cap on until it's secure. Slide each of the wire caps into a grease cap.
Sand, prime and glue the ends of the two PVC pipes, which connect the valves to each of their designated zones, and slide the ends into each remaining valve opening.
Place a valve manifold box with a lid over the valve manifold and fill in around the box with dirt.
