How to Kill Woody Vines

Woody vines are actually a type of weed that can quickly spread and overtake your landscape unless proper control methods are not put into place. If uncontrolled, woody vines can actually do quite a bit of damage. They can break tree limbs, weaken structures and interfere with phone and power lines. If you're not interested in controlling the woody vines, but rather would like to kill them off altogether, it's going to take some patience and persistence.

      Locate the root systems of the woody vines. Follow the vine to find where it enters the ground. This is a root location.

      Dig up the roots of the woody vines to remove them. Dig a wide parameter around the stem that enters the ground to ensure you get as much of the root as possible.

      Cover the ground where the woody vine was removed with mulch to help control regrowth.

      Spray any woody vines that start to re-grow with a synthetic herbicide as soon as you notice it.
