Safety

By using the products in accordance with the label directions or when applied professionally, the fertilizers produced and marketed by Scotts present no significant threat to pets or humans.

Lawn Fertilizers

• The Food and Drug Administration has certified Scotts lawn fertilizers as generally recognized as safe (GRAS), and the company's weed-and-feed, along with its insect control products, meets the EPA safety standards. For example, Turf-Builder contains urea, an ingredient found in hair conditioners, along with ammonium phosphate, which is found in baking soda. Potassium sulfate, a soap and food additive, is also listed in the ingredients of Turf-Builder.

Scotts EcoSense

• The Scotts Company manufactures a natural lawn fertilizer with the brand name of Scotts EcoSense. This is a phosphate-free lawn fertilizer that utilizes natural sources to provide nutrients to your lawn. Following all the label directions ensures safety for use around pets and children. EcoSense contains nitrogen and potassium in natural forms, making it in compliance with green practices.

• One of the fertilizers manufactured by the Scotts Company includes the line of Miracle-Gro products. These are garden soil and plant feeding systems, and come in a liquid from that is applied as you water your plants.
