DIY Easy Sprinkler System

Watering the lawn continuously is a time-consuming activity that can be bothersome, especially for homeowners with large yards covered in grass. Thankfully, underground and above-ground sprinkler systems are sold commercially to help alleviate this task. Sprinkler systems spray water on grass at random or set times during the day to help water the area. However, these systems can be costly. You can build your own above-ground irrigation or sprinkler system for a lower cost with materials commonly found at hardware stores.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Attach the male end of a hose with the female side connector on the first sprinkler unit.

    • 2

Remove the plastic cap on the male connector from the first sprinkler. Connect the female end of a second hose with the male end connector on the first sprinkler unit.

    • 3

Repeat to attach the male end of the second hose with the female end of the second sprinkler unit.

    • 4

Piece together hoses and sprinklers by following the procedures in Steps 1 to 3 and alternating the female and male ends. Ensure that all three sprinklers are connected. Do not remove the male cap off the final sprinkler.

    • 5

Connect the faucet manifold to the house spigot. Attach the free end of the first hose to the faucet manifold.

    • 6

Position the sprinklers in different areas of your yard as desired.

    • 7

Attach a sprinkler timer to the house spigot between the spigot and faucet manifold if desired. The timer will allow you to set specific watering times for the sprinklers. Turn on the water to power the sprinkler system.
