How to Attach Spray Nozzles to a Boom

To facilitate with spraying large lawns with water, fertilizer or pesticides, a boom is often used. The boom is a long metal pole that is attached to a pressurized spray tank on one end and has one or more nozzles on the other end. The boom can then be carried by hand in conjunction with a backpack of spray, or if it is a larger setup, attached to a tractor or lawnmower. Once the nozzles are attached, they can be fine tuned to adjust the spray coverage area.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the spray holes. There might be one large hole at the very end of the boom or there might be several running down the boom's length.

    • 2

Get out the nozzles that were included with the boom. Screw the nozzles or nozzle in tightly by twisting clockwise.

    • 3

Make a test spray with the boom. If the coverage that you are getting with the spray is not wide enough, twist the nozzle tip or tips slightly counterclockwise to expand the coverage. If the coverage is too wide, twist the tips clockwise to tighten up the coverage area.
