How to Replace a Sprinkler Timer With a Power Switch

Sprinkler systems can be run manually, using an automatic timer or a power switch for remote manual operation. Converting a sprinkler timer into a power switch is possible; however, a single switch will control only a single valve on your system. A power switch will require use of the original 12-volt converter that came with the sprinkler timer, as well as the original wires that connect the sprinkler valves to the power switch.

Things You'll Need

Connect the positive and neutral power leads from the 12-volt AC converter to the positive and neutral connection screws on the back of the 12-volt power switch. The positive lead will have a stripe or dotted line on it. Tighten the screws over the bare wires with a screwdriver to ensure a tight connection.
