Instructions

    • 1

Open the breaker box panel and switch of the breaker that controls the area where you'll install your Intermatic timer. Test the current switch to confirm that the correct breaker was shut off, so as to avoid electrocution or shock.

    • 2

Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the two flat-head screws at the top and bottom of the current switch and twist them counterclockwise to unscrew them. Remove the screws and pull the switch plate off.

    • 3

Pull the wall switch gently from the wall to expose the connected wires. If there are twist connectors connecting the wires from the switch to the wires in the wall, unscrew them. Remove the switch completely and confirm that wall wires are stripped of insulation a half-inch down.

    • 4

Line up the Intermatic shut-off timer to the wall properly. Pair together the two wires from the wall to the two wires extending from the shut-off timer, and screw twist connectors onto the pairs. Tighten them each by hand to secure them.

    • 5

Press the Intermatic shut-off timer into the switch box inside the wall. Insert the two flat-head screws, and screw the timer into the mounting box with the flat-head screwdriver. If the shut-off timer features a dial, remove the dial and the shut-off control panel from mounted the timer base.

    • 6

Place the switch plate over the Intermatic timer base and the shut-off control panel on top of the switch plate. Screw the Phillips-head screw into the center of the shut-off control panel to secure the control panel to the switch plate.

    • 7

Push the Intermatic shut-off dial onto the lever that protrudes through the switch plate. Confirm that the dial is oriented correctly.

    • 8

Flip the switch to the breaker to the "On" position, and program the Intermatic shut-off timer to turn off after 60 minutes.
