How to Mow With a Commercial Mower

Mowing grass properly is essential to the lawn's health. No matter what mower you use, cutting the grass at the correct height and with the correct frequency helps prevent the lawn from contracting a disease and encourages the grass to grow fully. Using a commercial mower is just like using a regular home mower, except a commercial mower can cut the lawn quicker. Always read the owner's manual for instructions regarding your specific commercial model.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill the gas tank to the top before use.

    • 2

Remove the dipstick from the oil crankcase and inspect the oil level. Fill the reservoir with the manufacturer's recommended oil if it's low.

    • 3

Sit on the mower. Set the cutting height of the mower to between 2 to 3 inches. You only want to remove one-third of the grass blade at a time.

    • 4

Set the throttle to the maximum RPM.

    • 5

Cut one straight line across the lawn. Turn the machine and overlap the casters at the front of the mower blade deck by a few inches. This prevents leaving any of the lawn uncut.
