How to Adjust a Hunter MP Rotator Sprinkler

A Hunter MP rotator sprinkler is installed underground as part of an irrigation system. When activated, the MP pops up above the ground and waters the lawn. Each sprinkler comes with an orange adjustment tool, designed to handle the arc and radius controls on the head of the MP. The radius determines how far the stream shoots, while the arc controls the rotation range. With these two sprinkler controls, you can conform the MP to its exact watering area.

Instructions

  1. Radius

    • 1

Insert the flat-head screwdriver portion of the supplied Hunter adjustment tool into the radius adjustment screw on the top of the spray head. You can also use a flat-head screwdriver to adjust the radius screw.

    • 2

Twist the radius adjustment screw to the right or clockwise four complete turns to reduce the radius or stream throw. The radius can be reduced by 25 percent.

    • 3

Twist the radius adjustment screw to the left or counterclockwise four complete turns to restore the MP sprinkler's radius to its full throw.

    Arc

    • 4

Align the left edge indicator, which is a vertical gray line printed on the side of the sprinkler, with the leftmost edge of the watering area upon installation. The left edge is fixed and can't be adjusted.

    • 5

Turn on the sprinkler system so that the MP extends above ground and operates.

    • 6

Fit the hollow round part of the Hunter adjustment tool over the top of the MP sprinkler head until it sits on the arc adjustment ring.

    • 7

Twist the arc adjustment ring to the right or clockwise to increase the arc or expand the rotation range.

    • 8

Twist the arc adjustment ring to the left or counterclockwise to decrease the arc or narrow the rotation range.
