How to Troubleshoot a Hunter SRC-600i

The Hunter SRC-600i is a simple and reliable controller for residential irrigation systems. It allows up to six sprinkler valves to be connected and operated by one controller. In order for the irrigation system to adequately provide water to your lawn, the controller must be working properly. Problems could require some troubleshooting.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull open the front cover on the controller and turn the control dial to the Run position, which makes sure the system will allow water to run through the irrigation valves.

    • 2

Make sure the pump and pump relay are located at least 15 feet away from the controller. When the pump relay turns on, it can cause damage to the controller if placed closer together.

    • 3

Insert a new 9-volt battery into the battery compartment, located on the lower left side of the controller, to make sure the display stays lit and does not blink.

    • 4

Pull the fuse out of its slot on the right side of the controller if there is no water running through the valves. Push a new fuse in until it snaps into place. A blown fuse can prevent the valves from working properly.

    • 5

Wrap the two transformer wires around the two transformer screws on the front of the controller. Plug the transformer attached to the wires into a wall outlet to ensure the system is receiving the power needed to operate.

    • 6

Connect the valve wires to the labeled screws next to the transformer screws so the controller recognizes what valves are in use. The number on the valve wire should match the screw it is wrapped around. For example, the Valve 1 wire should be attached to the Valve 1 screw. You can have up to six valve wires.
