How to Troubleshoot a Huskee Quick Cut

The Huskee Quick Cut is a riding lawn mower designed for larger jobs. The Huskee, which is manufactured by Trailer Supply Company, has a 42-inch cutting deck and a 17 horsepower Briggs and Stratton motor. Upkeep and maintenance commonly keep the Huskee in good shape, but even then sometimes slight repairs may need to be made. It's possible to troubleshoot and fix many of these problems that do not require a lot of mechanical know-how to address.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the engine compartment of the Huskee. Turn the multimeter on and set it on the voltage setting for a 12-volt battery.

    • 2

Place the positive meter lead on the positive battery terminal and the negative meter lead on the negative terminal and check the reading. If it falls below 12 volts, either charge or swap out the battery.

    • 3

Open the gas tank and make sure there is gas in the Huskee's tank. Fill it up if there's not, and then try again to start the Huskee.

    • 4

Remove the spark plug wire and then take the plug out with a spark plug wrench. Insert a new plug and tighten it with the wrench. Replace the spark plug wire and start the mower.

    • 5

Check to make sure the parking brake is engaged. Place the throttle in the choke position and turn the PTO switch to the "Off" position.

    • 6

Remove the air filter cover and check the filter. Replace it with a new filter if it is extremely dirty. If it is only slightly dirty, tap it on the pavement and re-install it.
