How to Move a Plastic Shed

Determine where you want to move your shed. For example, you will either want to move your shed across your lawn or across town. If you are moving across a fair distance, you will need the vehicle to accommodate the space.

Pick up the shed with four to eight neighbors if it is small enough. With the help of neighbors, you can easily transport a small shed across your lawn or onto a trailer.

Lift one end of a larger shed with a car jack if you intend to move it across the yard. Under this end, place a long rolling pipe with a long, thin block of wood on top of that. The pipes should either be long PVC pipes or heavy water pipes.

Lift the other end of the large shed and place a pipe under this end. Gently push the shed until the front pipe reaches the back of the shed. Take the pipe that was in the back and place it in the front of the shed and repeat. If done properly, the shed will stay attached to the wood and easily roll across the yard. You may need neighbors to assist you in holding up the shed while you switch the pipes around.

Obtain additional equipment for a larger shed being moved across town, which can weigh up to 2,000 lbs. If you have access to a forklift or a crane, these are the safest options to loading the shed onto a trailer.

Contact your local shed company to inquire about hiring someone to help you move it. Because moving a large shed is dangerous, and you may not have easy access to this equipment, it is best to contact someone who is trained to do it.
