Replace the spark plugs. One of the most common problems with a Weed Eater engine is that it will not start. The common reason for this is that the spark plugs are cracked or broken. Remove the spark plugs with an adjustable wrench. Find the plug number on the side of the plug. Insert a new plug with a new plug that has the same number.
Add a new air filter into the engine. The air filter keeps the air clean, and a clean air filter also helps improve the engine's gas mileage. With your hand, unscrew the square air filter plate on the side of the engine. Pull out the old filter and place a new one in its place.
Use a new oil filter. If the oil filter is cracked, the engine will not receive enough oil to keep it well lubricated. Find the oil filter alongside the side of the engine. It is usually black and is roughly the shape of a soda can. Unscrew the filter with an oil filter wrench. Screw a new filter in its place when the old one has been removed.
