Locate the main water line shut-off valve, if you wish to shut off the main water supply, which also turns off the water supply to the irrigation system. The valve is usually located inside the home in a basement or crawl space near the water meter. Grasp the shut-off valve, which might be a ball valve with a lever, and twist it until it is tightly shut.
Locate the irrigation line shut-off valve, if you wish to turn off the irrigation supply line. Shut off of the irrigation line allows water to continue to flow through the home but stops water from flowing through the irrigation line. The irrigation line shut-off valve is located near the main line shut-off valve and can be inside or outside the home. The irrigation line tees off from the main irrigation line and might be a gate valve. Twist the irrigation shut-off valve clockwise to interrupt the flow of water from the main line to the Hunter irrigation system.
Pull up the lid to the Hunter irrigation valve manifold, which is a series of Hunter irrigation valves connected together, each one of which leads to a different irrigation zone within the yard, if the irrigation system has been activated manually. Grasp the top of the first Hunter valve solenoid, which is like a large knob on top of the valve that might feature wires coming out of the top, and twist it to the right or clockwise to turn the flow water from that valve off. Repeat this step for each additional valve that is manually opened.
Insert a Hunter adjustment tool into the sprinkler head’s flow adjustment socket, if you wish to turn off the flow of water to individual sprinklers. Twist the adjustment tool to the right or clockwise to shut off the flow of water to the sprinkler head.
Open the front panel to the Hunter irrigation timer if the sprinkler system has been activated from the controller. Twist the programming dial on the face of the controller to the “System Off” or “Off” position to stop all sprinklers from watering. The controller might feature a shut-off button instead of a dial setting.
