How to Adjust the Drive Idler Pulley on a Hydrostatic Simplicity 7113

The 7113 is a riding lawn mower manufactured by Simplicity. The mower deck on the Simplicity is powered via a drive belt that is mounted on the drive idler pulley. If the belt ever needs replacement, or if it simply feels like the belt is slipping, the idler pulley may need to be adjusted. Adjusting the drive idler pulley is a job that can be done at home in approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

     Turn the Simplicity off and allow to it cool a few minutes. Pull the power take-off , or PTO, lever to disengage the blades.

     Lower the Simplicity's deck to its lowest setting.

   • 3

     Crawl in front of the mower and use a socket set to loosen the drive idle pulley belt bolt.

   • 4

     Slide the idler pulley to the proper belt tension desired and then tighten the idle pulley bolt back with the socket set.
