How to Adjust a High Speed Fuel Jet on a WD45 Carb

The WD45 is a vintage farm tractor manufactured by Allis Chalmers. The company, which today is based in Houston, Texas, was originally formed in Wisconsin in the 1840s. If the WD45 runs roughly at higher speeds, it may be because the high speed jet on the carburetor needs to be adjusted. This can be done via an adjustment screw on the outside of the carburetor. It takes about 10 minutes to adjust the carburetor's high-speed jet.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the high-jet adjustment screw on the rear of the carburetor on the bottom left hand side. Insert a screwdriver and twist the WD45 screw as far right as it will go.

    • 2

Start the WD45 and let it run for about 10 minutes to warm up.

    • 3

Turn the adjustment screw one full turn to the left and listen to the engine. If it's running too high, turn the screw a quarter turn to the left. If it's running too low or kills, restart the tractor and turn the screw a quarter turn to the right until it evens out.
