Toro Sprinkler Adjustment Instructions

When you notice that parts of your lawn are not getting adequate water from your Toro sprinkler heads, that usually means it is time for a simple head adjustment. In most cases, the adjustment takes just a few moments to complete and will last an entire watering season. By following a few simple steps recommended by Toro, you will get the maximum efficiency from your sprinkler heads, thus allowing you to save water by eliminating the need for extended watering times.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the sprinkler on in the area to be observed (and adjusted if necessary). Watch the sprinkler head cycle through several complete revolutions. Take note of any areas that are being missed, or are not being fully watered.

    • 2

Note how far the sprinkler reaches along its left watering border. The left watering border is the baseline for all further adjustments; this adjustment cannot be made within the sprinkler head. If any adjustment is needed, simply turn the entire sprinkler head on its pipe fitting until the left watering border is being precisely reached at every revolution of the sprinkler head.

    • 3

Observe the sprinkler as it goes to the right side watering border. If the watering border is passed or not quite reached, the watering arc can be changed by altering the sprinkler's reversing point. If the sprinkler sprays too far past the right watering border, then the watering arc must be reduced. If the right border is not fully reached, the watering arc must be increased.

    • 4

Decrease the arc spray by rotating the sprinkler nozzle to the right end of the spraying arc. Depress and hold down the sprinkler nozzle. Slowly turn the nozzle counterclockwise until the spray arc becomes aligned with the desired watering border. Release the sprinkler nozzle.

    • 5

Increase the arc spray by rotating the sprinkler nozzle to the right end of the spraying arc. Depress and hold down the sprinkler nozzle. Slowly turn the nozzle clockwise until the spray arc becomes aligned with the desired watering border. Release the sprinkler nozzle.

    • 6

Adjust the spray distance of the sprinkler head by inserting a small phillips head screwdriver into the top access hole of the nozzle housing assembly. The adjustment screw contained within is used to slightly diffuse or concentrate the water spray closer to or farther from the sprinkler head if desired. Turn the screwdriver clockwise to diffuse the spray and reduce the distance attained by the sprinkler head. Turn the screw counterclockwise to concentrate the sprinkler spray, thus allowing it to travel farther.

Observe the sprinkler head through several full revolutions to ensure that the adjustments made are adequate. Repeat any steps if necessary.
