How Soon After Using Roundup Can You Plant Seeds?

Roundup products, manufactured by the Scotts Miracle Gro Company, are specifically designed to rid your lawn of unwanted flowers, plants and vegetation. It's safe enough to plant seeds within three days of the initial spraying.
  1. Time Frame

    • Wait one day after spraying Roundup before planting shrubs, trees and ornamental flowers. For vegetables, fruits, grasses and herbs, wait three days before planting.

    Considerations

    • The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company lists one to three days as the amount of time you must wait before planting after using the Roundup products. Read the label carefully, as some of the products sold under the Roundup name may require a longer wait time.

    Warning

    • Avoid planting new seeds in the area around where you sprayed, until you're certain you eradicated the problem. If you plant new seeds and the weeds come back, you'll need to spray the Roundup again, which may damage the new seeds and sprouts.
