How to Survey Land When You Have the Measurements

Surveying refers to the practice of finding exact distances and angles between points on the earth. It is most often used to establish boundaries of property and for making maps. It is also used for construction to mark off plots of land with exact properties.

  • Measuring tape
  • Wooden stakes
  • Rope

Instructions

      Drive a stake into the ground of one corner of your property.

      Tie one end of the rope to the stake.

    • 3

      Measure out the distance to an adjacent corner of your property, and pound another stake into it.

    • 4

      Pull the rope taut, and tie it around the second stake.

    • 5

      Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until you have marked out all the boundaries of your property and the rope creates a closed boundary.
