Weedkiller for Zoysia

Zoysia is good hot-weather grass commonly planted in areas with poor soil conditions and severe humidity. It can quickly grow out of control. Resistant to drought, wear and tear, and low fertility, unwanted zoysia grass can be eradicated with the proper steps.
  1. Zoysia Grass Problems

    • In the winter months zoysia grass turns brown and is subject to rust and fairy ring. This can make a property look unhealthy. Moreover, zoysia grass is tough to control and can quickly overtake flowerbeds and your neighbor's yard.

    Non-Chemical Control

    • Non-chemical elimination of zoysia grass requires time and patience. Fertilize the lawn in September and October only, and never cut the grass shorter 3 inches. After several years of taking these measures, cool-season turf grasses will overtake zoysia.

    Chemical Control

    • Zoysi agrass can be eliminated more quickly with the use of herbicides. Use a non-selective weedkiller, such as glyphosate, and reseed the lawn. Herbicides are toxic, so be sure to follow all safety precautions printed on the product labels.
