How to Use the Estate Rake

The Estate Rake is a tow behind rake system designed for home owners with larger lawns and commercial properties. Featuring six sets of independently rotating tines, the Estate Rake can both rake and de-thatch a lawn while being pulled behind an 8 horsepower or larger riding lawn mower, tractor or all terrain vehicle (ATV). Using an Estate Rake involves some initial setup so that it properly rakes cut grass and other debris in a lawn.

Concrete block or similar weight

Instructions

- 1
  Position the Estate Rake behind a riding lawn mower or ATV. Lift the tongue of the Estate Rake and connect it to the hitch of the mower or ATV with a hitch pin.

  Tow the Estate Rake to the desired starting point in the lawn. Adjust the height of the tines using the adjustment handle assembly. Squeeze the grips together and move forward or back to raise and lower the tine height in the lawn. Adjust the tine height lower to de-thatch a lawn and higher for raking.

  Place concrete blocks or similar type weight on the frame of the Estate Rake above the axle to help prevent bouncing that could cause the tines to raise off the grass and leave grass clippings.

  Begin towing the Estate Rake along the entire length of the starting edge of the lawn. Pull the Estate Rake completely around the perimeter of the lawn area with the first pass.

  Continue to pull the Estate Rake around the yard following just inside of the first pass. Observe the operation of the Estate Rake to make sure that it is contacting the line of raked grass from the first pass and moving it over as you go.

  Continue working the Estate Rake around the yard to rake the grass clippings in toward a center point where they can be more easily gathered and disposed of properly.
