How to Adjust the Spray Direction of a Lawn Sprinkler

Lawn sprinklers provide a convenient means for directing water onto a section of a lawn without having to hold a garden hose or invest in a potentially expensive inground system. A lawn sprinkler connects to a garden hose and is then positioned as desired in the lawn. Adjusting the sprinkler can be done to fine-tune the water distributed onto the grass from the sprinkler.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect one end of the garden hose to the fitting on the lawn sprinkler and the other end to an outdoor faucet.

    • 2

Position the sprinkler on the lawn in the desired location to receive water.

    • 3

Control the distance that water will travel from the sprinkler with the adjustable levers on one end. Move the levers closer together to reduce the distance water will travel or further apart to increase the distance water will travel.

    • 4

Adjust the width of the spray pattern with the numbered dial on the opposite end of the lawn sprinkler. Turn the dial to open the nozzles on either end to widen the spray pattern.

    • 5

Set the desired pattern and spray distance and then turn on the water. Observe the operation of the sprinkler, turn the water off and make adjustments as necessary to the sprinkler. Adjust the angle of the water by repositioning the lawn sprinkler on the ground.
