Wait until the weather is under 80 degrees Fahrenheit, the air is completely still, and the plants have just emerged from the soil or are beginning to turn greener with the new spring. Warm season grasses such as Bermuda are best sprayed in the summer or late fall.

Dress in disposable clothing with long sleeves, and safety gear including an OHSA approved breathing mask, eye goggles, gloves and a hat that covers the nape of the neck.

    • 3

Walk the yard carefully, spraying along the ground and ensuring that every plant gets wetted down. Do not raise the container too high from the plants as this will allow the herbicide to drift into places where you want to keep the plants.
