How to Paint Logos on Synthetic Turf

There are certain things people expect at sporting event venues: concessions, novelty foam hands and in the case of sports such as football, soccer and track, a painted synthetic turf adorned with sponsor and team logos. If you have the proper equipment, painting a synthetic field is a relatively easy task that will leave you with a playing field fit for any sporting event.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a day when the weather conditions are right. The best time to paint a synthetic field is when the field is dry and the wind is low.

    • 2

Groom the field by mowing the grass and making sure that any leftover paint from other paint jobs is gone.

    • 3

Trace the design for the logo on cardboard. When making your design, keep it simple and avoid a design requiring many different colors or small parts.

    • 4

Cut the logo out of the cardboard.

    • 5

Place the cardboard on the playing field in the area you want your logo displayed.

    • 6

Use an airless paint sprayer to paint the outline of the logo.

    • 7

Wait for the paint to dry.

    • 8

Use the cardboard cutouts to block off any areas you don't want painted and fill the inside of the logo in using the airless paint sprayer.

    • 9

Avoid spraying too far down into the grass when painting your logo. Paint has the best appearance when it is on the tips of the grass blades.

    • 10

Allow the paint to dry before using the field.
