Floratam St. Augustine is a grass that is SAD virus- and chinch bug-resistant, though American-Lawns.com notes the chinch bug has started overcoming the grass' resistance. Another feature of Floratam is it grows vigorously in warm weather but requires more than six hours of sunlight daily. When installing new Floratam sod, it is important that you adequately prepare the ground for the new sod. Failure to properly prepare the ground and install the Floratam sod correctly can lead to the sod dying. Luckily with the right tools and directions you can quickly and correctly install Floratam sod and maintain its nice and green appearance.
