How to Install EnviroTurf

EnviroTurf, a synthetic golf course grass, looks like the real thing without the inconvenience of caring for it. It can withstand all weather condition, and you can place it in your backyard to simulate a golf course. You can also add bumps and imperfections to your EnviroTurf lawn, adding an extra layer of authenticity. Artificial turf does not require mowing, fertilization or irrigation. The only maintenance it requires is a brushing two to four times a year.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the existing turf by hand or a turf cutter. You can rent one at a home improvement shop. Mark the surface where you want to install the EnviroTurf by hammering timber stakes around it. The stakes should protrude from the ground by 3 inches.

    • 2

Lay a 3-inch-high layer of crushed stone on the treated surface. Compact the crushed stone with a tamper, which you can also rent from a local home improvement shop.

    • 3

Infill the area treated with infill or crushed sand. Level the ground with a rake, then compact the ground with a lawn roller.

    • 4

Apply a weed membrane on top of the sand to prevent any weeds from growing through it. Cut the membrane to the dimensions of your lawn with a carpet knife. Nail it to the stakes using 1-inch galvanized nails.

    • 5

Lay EnviroTurf on the area in the direction you prefer, taking care to overlap the pieces. Overlap the stakes by a few inches, and nail the edges to the ground with 1-inch galvanized nails.
